2024 was full of high notes. This year, we found inspiration in timeless flavors and pushed classic spice blends beyond their traditional applications. We also attended a number of exciting industry events and trade shows where we got to connect with our community in person and share our passion for spices. Most importantly, we worked alongside so many passionate food companies, and helped our clients deliver high-quality flavor year-round.

As we look forward to our next chapter, we want to take a moment to reflect on 2024 and appreciate some of this year’s highlights.

 

Featured Spice Blends

From creating new custom spice blends with clients, to growing our own spice blend library, we are proud of everything we created in 2024. This year, we also focused on showcasing new ways to use classic spice blends to bring timeless, traditional flavors into the modern era.

Top New Spice Blend – PSC Tuscan Dream

This sensational blend is a mix of key spices and herbs, including oregano, thyme, rosemary, red chilis, garlic, onion, lemon, and pepper. The combination of bright citrus, aromatic herbs, and savory spices makes PSC Tuscan Dream flavorful, versatile, and classic. It is the perfect seasoning for a variety of dishes, particularly in Greek, Italian, and Mediterranean -style foods, and contributes beautifully to various oil mixtures.

Top Reimagined Spice Blends – PSC Curry Powder + PSC Barbecue Blend

Our classic curry powder blend combines cumin, turmeric, onion, garlic, chili peppers, and other spices to create an authentic curry flavor. This traditional seasoning offers tremendous flexibility, and has so much potential in fusion dishes. At IFT FIRST, we showcased its versatility by using it to make curry fries.

Our BBQ Seasoning features cornerstone spices such as paprika, onion, and garlic, and strikes a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Barbecue is a complex, crave-worthy flavor that is universally enjoyed. It transcends regional and cultural boundaries, and evokes a sense of comfort and nostalgia. We see an opportunity to expand its application beyond meats to plant-based foods. At IFT FIRSt, we showcased the potential of this blend in a plant-based vegetarian chili.

3 Industry Trade Shows

2024 provided exciting opportunities to return to some of our favorite industry events. Our team was proud to attend Natural Products Expo West (NPEW), Southern California Institute of Food Technologists Supplier’s Night (SCIFTS), and IFT FIRST Annual Event and Expo.

At SCIFTS, we participated in the renowned fundraising event that celebrates the advancement of food science. Each year we are greatly inspired by the new technologies in the food industry, and the forward-thinking food companies and creators in our industry.

At NPEW, we embraced the opportunity to connect with our community face-to-face, and debuted our bright new blend, PSC Tuscan Dream, with the help of Chef Marc Dix. This event also provided new insights on the role of technology in the spice industry, key flavor trends, and the rising popularity of specialty ingredients.

Our booth at IFT FIRST featured a sample station with two of our spice blends, reimagined in new ways. Visitors were invited to enjoy curry fries, made with PSC Curry Powder, and vegetarian BBQ chili, made with our PSC Barbecue Spice Blend. Both samples showcased how you can breathe new life into timeless flavors. IFT FIRST never disappoints, and always results in clear takeaways and a renewed sense of purpose and passion for this incredible industry.

Industry events always create a sense of excitement and an opportunity for advancing the food industry as a whole. We are always paying attention to the broader industry landscape and are proud to do our part to push it forward.
